Intern LifeTravel Info

Having a car is not always convenient in Seoul, because there are not enough parking spaces or they are missing completely! Great thing about Seoul is that public transportation is very frequently going everywhere. Plus, it is much better for the environment to use public transportation or even better, to use shared bike, which is also an option in here! So let’s have a look on the transportation Seoul has to offer.

BUS

System of public buses in Korea is very well developed. The network is connecting every spot from East to West and North to South. The busses are marked so good that it’s so easy to use them. Each bus has number sigh and colour with specific meaning-blue, green, yellow and red. Blue, green and yellow busses are general busses, and the red ones are rapid, express busses.

When you are using the bus you should tap the T money card twice. First time is when you enter the bus and second time when you’re leaving the bus. Cost of the fare is changing with each type of bus, and it can go from 900 won to 2800 won per ride.

SUBWAY

Subway in Seoul has 22 lines which help you to get anywhere! The cost for using subway is 1250 won with Tmoney card, 1350 without card. The operating hours start at 4am and end at 1am. The subways are really great to use, because in summer they are fully air conditioned and in winter they are heated. For international travellers there is English announcement for every stop, so you can easily use the subway even if you don’t know Korean. 😊

BUT! Be careful about using the subway between 7-9 am and 6-7 pm. During this hours people are getting to and off the work and the subway is super crowded! Just look at the line waiting for subway…

BYCICLE

In Seoul are many great places for biking as well as just using the bike to get from point A to point B. By dowloading the app Seoul Bike you’ll be able to rent the bike. The whole day pass for renting the bike is only 1000 won! Using the bike has many advantages, it saves money, it’s good for your health and it’s good for the environment too! So if you’ll be in Seoul I definitely recommend you to try it!

TAXI

Taxi in Korea is pretty cheap compared to other countries. The service is working 24 hours so you can get taxi any time a day. This is especially convinient when public transportation isn’t working. The best way to get a taxi is by using Kakao Taxi and Uber app. Good thing about Kakao taxi is that it’s also in English and Japanese. With many tourists coming to Korea a lot of drivers nowadays speak English too.

Thank you for reading and have a beautiful day🙂

Fighting!
